Background:

St Andrew's is situated in Boothstown, a large village on the outskirts of Salford. It was founded in 1874 and its current accommodation comprises the original Victorian school and newer separate buildings dating from 1971 onwards. There is a separate 39-place nursery which feeds into a two-form entry early years/Key Stage 1 unit. The school has 'extensive' hard surface and playing field facilities. Music and drama are given 'much focus' and the school has a number of choirs and instrumental groups. Sport is 'well represented' in the curriculum; the school is currently the city cricket champion has also experienced recent success in football and swimming. There is a 'thriving' parent-teacher association and many after-school activities, which include, sport, drama, music, French, brownies and guides, cubs and scouts. St Andrew's church is situated within the school with services during the week.
