Background:

The previous school building was demolished to make way for the M62, and the current building opened in 1968, comprising a mixed storey building with a nursery in a modern single storey unit. It occupies a 'generous' site in 'extensive' grounds in Worsley woods in a 'very beautiful' setting, surrounded by trees and fields. Numbers have risen over the years and it is at present slightly over-subscribed. School sports teams have done 'particularly well' recently in football, cross-country, netball and swimming. There is a 'good range' of extra-curricular activities including gardening, cross-country, football, a choir, instrumental group, 'club francais', and a craft club. A wide range of instrumental tuition is also available. The curriculum is supported through educational visits which include Salford Quay, Blackpool Zoo and the Jewish Museum, and through visitors to school such as the local radio station and various travelling educational groups. Charity is an 'important aspect' of school life.
