Background:
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School officially opened in February 1951. At its inception the school was given the name St Peter's and for a short period served the Catholic population of both the Baguley and Newall Green areas. In September 1952 St Peter's School, Newall Green was opened and for some time both schools shared the same name. However, the parish was subsequently divided and the school was given its present name in January 1968. The Sacred Heart School is a voluntary aided Catholic primary school in the Diocese of Shrewsbury.
