Background:
Opened in 1973 in a residential area of Davyhulme, the school draws children primarily from the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary. Extension built in 2002, consisting hall, kitchen, and two purpose-built classrooms. Over-subscribed, with 1.6 applications per place. Key Stage 2 children take part in a variety of team games, including football, lacrosse, kwik cricket, skittleball and rounders; Year 3 have a swimming lesson once a week. Emphasis placed on caring for less-privileged members of society; links with Francis House, a children's hospice in Didsbury; also established links with parents and the parish. Wide range of extra-curricular activities, including netball, football, athletics, book-making, gardening, French, drama, music, board games, science, ICT. Beofre-school care, from 7.50am. Recognised as one of the top 100 Catholic schools in 2004. Healthy Schools award (2005). Basic Skills Quality Mark (2005); DfES achievement award (2000, 2002).
