Saddlewood School is a secondary, co-educational, comprehensive school with a nine-form entry, which caters for students from 11 to 16 years of age. Saddleworth School is situated in pleasant, rural surroundings in the village of Uppermill. Its buildings are linked by grassy areas, courtyards and play areas. The school's close proximity to open countryside provides excellent opportunities for sports and leisure activities. The multimedia resource centre is a large, open-plan area, which includes a suite of computers with access to the internet and a large selection of CD ROMs. Saddleworth School offers many extra-curricular activities at lunchtime and after normal school hours. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme introduces young people to worthwhile leisure activities and thousands have achieved bronze, silver and gold awards through its operation at the school over 25 years.
