Parrs Wood was opened in 1967 as an 11 to 18 co-educational comprehensive school situated in the South Manchester suburb of Didsbury. The college has extensive facilities with six ICT suites, a dance studio, specialist rooms for technology, science, languages and art and a large sports hall. It has extensive, well-maintained playing fields for soccer, rugby, cricket, athletics and rounders. It also has a floodlit Astroturf pitch for netball, hockey, netball and tennis, a gymnasium for dance and gymnastics. There is also a large sports hall for basketball, badminton, table tennis and cricket. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include soccer, badminton, cricket, cross-country, rugby, rounders, netball and hockey. The school aims to provide a safe and pleasant environment for effective learning.
