Background:
The school was established in 1975 following local government re-organisation in the Oldham area. The school is on two sites, appromixately one mile apart. The Lower School site caters for Key Stage 3 pupils. An ex-grammar site, it is set in extensive grounds in Chadderton, a suburb of Oldham. The Upper School, for Key Stage 4 pupils, has a more modern structure dating from the 1960's and is also set in extensive grounds within which a new, 'competition quality' athletics ground was built in 1999. 'At the Radclyffe School, our aim is to provide the widest educational opportunity for all our pupils; extending the most able and challenging the less able. We want every child to achieve personal excellence.' The school is a pathfinder school for transforming the school workforce (only one of 13 secondary schools throughout the country).
