Wellacre High School was opened in January 1955. The school is situated on the edge of the green belt in a very pleasant area of West Manchaster. The buildings stand in extensive grounds which contain several hectares of playing fields including an all-weather football pitch and an all-weather cricket pitch. The school possess two modern gymnasia and a multigym. The school aims to offer a wide range of opportunities for pupils to acquire knowledge and skills, practical abilities and personal values. The school has seven science laboratories, four computer suites, a design technology workshop, a drama studio, a language laboratory, a large library, an extensive photography studio and darkroom, a food technology area and many other specialist rooms for art and music. The school aims to provide a caring environment based on trust and mutual respect.
