Background:
Situated close to the centre of Bolton since 1977, the school serves a multi-cultural community. The grounds provide two hard-surface playing areas and access to a large playing field surrounded by woodland. Since Bolton has been identified as a high crime area, the Bolton Safer Cities Scheme has provided funding for pupils to take part in a project to improve the school's environment and security, which has resulted in a hedge being erected around the grounds. The accommodation comprises seven 'spacious' classrooms, two shared resource areas, a 'well-equipped' library and a 'large', multi-purpose hall. Extra-curricular activities include football, cricket, netball, rounders and chess, all of which are played against other schools, as well as a choir. Every other year pupils in Years 5 and 6 can attend an adventure weekend. In recent years, associations with Lancashire Cricket and Bolton Wanderers Football Club have led to days out at matches as well as some financial support. Parents are invited to class assemblies once a week.
