Background:

A Jewish orthodox school with ethos that 'reflects the practices, beliefs and traditions of orthodox Judaism based on the Torah and the Talmud', and which 'has Israel at the heart of its philosophy, which is a major resource in reinforcing and consolidating Jewish life in the United Kingdom'. Only 3.5 per cent of pupils live within walking distance, most travelling from Prestwich and Whitefield. Housed in building that dates from 1953, junior school is integral part of 'flourishing' King David campus, which educates children from nursery to university entrance; refurbished library and ICT suite seen as pivotal to independent study and development of thinking skills. Campus has swimming pool used by all pupils; offers wide variety of sports, including minority sports such as fencing, lacrosse, and table tennis; large number of teams compete in inter-school competitions. In addition to sports, range of extra-curricular activities offered, including French, line dancing, ceramics, art, sailing, writing and drama.
